Wireless Cameras

Wifi cameras with GotoCamera built in are coming really soon. Manufacturers we're currently working with include Aztech, Trek2000, and AirlinkWifi, to name a few. We'll update this page as soon as these cameras are available. Meanwhile, you may want to consider using the following wired USB webcams.

Based on our testing and "bang-for-the-buck" approach, we recommend the Creative Live Cam Socialize HD 720P Webcam, which costs around $50 on Amazon.

At the higher end of the scale, another camera we like is the Creative  VF0280 Live! Cam Optia AF 2.0 MP Web Cam with Auto Focus - this is an auto-focus camera so it's a bit more expensive. It worked well in our testing, and if you'd like a higher-end webcam, we think this is the one to go for. It's around $80 on Amazon.

Among the low-cost high-value cameras, you may want to consider the Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 Webcam webcam , sold for less than $20 on Amazon.

If you prefer Logitech webcams, the Logitech HD Webcam C525, would be a good choice. It sells for around $40 on Amazon.

USB extension cable

We strongly recommend that you use an active USB extension cable. This will give you the ability to place your webcam a fair distance from your computer. Amazon sells a number of these cables - try Cable A or Cable B. If either of these are out of stock, search on "active USB extension" - you'll find prices ranging from $15 all the way to $50. In our opinion, the higher priced cables aren't really worth the extra cash (which is why we haven't linked to them!).

Cable A: 33 ft / 10 meter Premium Active USB 2.0 Extender / Repeater / Extension Cable with Built-in signal booster chips - Supprts High Speed Data Transfer Rate of up to 480 Mbp
