As a nanny-cam Many GotoCamera subscribers use the service to watch over their children – whether the children are in a GotoCamera-Enabled crèche, at home with a professional nanny or baby-sitter, or being looked after by helpful grandparents. You can use GotoCamera’s Auto-Record features to record footage of the child’s room all day – or just for the duration while you’re away. If your child is of school-going age, you can use GotoCamera’s motion detection features to receive an alert when he gets back home. And check in occasionally to ensure he’s doing his homework and not playing Super Mario on the Wii…!
For elder-care As our parents and grandparents get older, it’s only natural for us to worry more about their safety and security. Especially when they live far away from us. Or in a nursing / retirement home. We’re not suggesting that anyone violate their privacy, but a camera in a common area (such as the TV room or the Library) can be very useful indeed.
Detect uninvited guests GotoCamera transforms any webcam into an intruder detection camera. Should an intrusion be detected, GotoCamera can automatically send images or videos to your mobile phone and your email. You can even choose to have the motion detection system turn off automatically at a certain time (quite pointless seeing a video of yourself returning home in the evening,..). As a vacation cam Take an old dis-used Windows notebook (or even that netbook you recently bought “just in case”), attach a USB webcam to it, point the camera at your main door / living room, set up motion detection, set up Auto-Record, and you have a quick and easy surveillance system to give you peace of mind while you’re away. Login from any Web browser – through a cybercafé or even using your mobile phone – click on Archives, and see what’s been happening in your absence. You can even Share your camera with friends and neighbors, enlisting their help in watching over your home – after all, you can return the favor when it’s their turn to enjoy the sun and the sand... When you get back home, simply Unshare the camera and your privacy is restored.
