Works with all webcams. GotoCamera works with all USB-webcams and integrated webcams (the webcams that are built into the lid of your notebook computer). In addition, we're working on adding suppport for a number of video capture cards (which let you hoom up CCTV cameras to your computer). We're also working with IP camera companies to add GotoCamera support in their cameras. At this time, among IP cameras, we support the D-Link DCS-2120. Supports motion detection. GotoCamera turns any webcam into a motion-detecting camera, even if the camera does not come with motion detection features. GotoCamera's motion detection can send alerts - including an image or a 10-second video clip - to your email and, optionally, to your mobile phone. Auto-Record shows you the day's activities. GotoCamera supports a feature called Auto-Record, which enables you to record snapshots or videos from your camera, regularly and automatically, all through the day. You could set it up to automatically take snapshots every 5 minutes, 24 hours a day, or only at certain times or only on certain days... Learn how to set up Auto-Record through this flash demo.
Remote storage. Your camera’s footage is stored for you on our servers. This ensures your archived storage is available to you from anywhere in the world – you don’t need to get back home to see what was recorded by your camera. All Basic subscribers have 50 MB of free storage; all Premium subscribers have 1000 MB of free storage. Additional storage will soon be available for purchase.
Many media options. With GotoCamera, you decide what you want to access: a still snapshot (Image), continuous still snapshots (Multi-Image), a 10 second video clip (Video), or a continuous 1-minute video (Stream). Basic (free) subscribers have access to Image, Multi-Image, and Video, while Streams are available only to Premium subscribers. These media options give you the flexibility of using what’s most appropriate – on your mobile phone, you might choose snapshot; on your office broadband, you might choose Stream. There’s no limit to how many times you can request images, video clips, streams, etc.
Cameras can be Shared. You may optionally choose to share your camera with other members of your household, friends, neighbors, etc. When you share your camera with someone, we call that someone your “buddy”. When sharing your camera, you can decide what features you want to share with your buddy – for example, you might decide not to give your buddy access to video clips or Auto-Recording… or you might decide to give full access. It’s all up to you. Do note that there’s no charge for sharing your camera but the buddy must have her / his own account on GotoCamera (and yes, they can have Basic accounts).
Support through Forums, Flash Demos, and Email. We want to make GotoCamera so easy that you never need to turn to anyone for help. Which is why we’ve put in plenty of demos and a comprehensive searchable KnowledgeBase – so you can find answers quickly and easily. If your question isn’t answered in the KnowledgeBase, we encourage you to write a note in the Forums, where helpful users and GotoCamera Staff can quickly assist you. The Basic service is really free. We don’t ask you for your credit card when you create a Basic account. Which means there’s no way for us to charge you “on the sly”. Ethics are super-important to us and you can rest assured that when we say “free”, we mean “free”. Of course, you may choose to add on optional features onto your Basic account – such as additional storage, mobile alerts, etc, but those are entirely at your discretion. If you do add on optional features, you will be separately asked for your card information at that time, so you know exactly what you’re paying for, what it costs, and how long it lasts. PayPal for credit card processing. All transactions are processed through PayPal – if you don’t have a PayPal account, you can use any internationally accepted credit card (such as most cards with the Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover logos on them). Either way, your credit card information is protected by PayPal’s industry-leading protection and security systems.
